Gin & Tonic

Gin
Classic gin and tonic cocktail

Is there a cocktail more simple than a gin and tonic? I think not!

The gin and tonic is one of those classic cocktails you can whip up in a pinch. And even though it has just two ingredients, there are so many ways to customize and add razzle dazzle.

The Gin

One half of this classic cocktail is the spirit. Gin is a clear, distilled spirit made with botanicals. And whether you pick a dry gin or one that is heavy on botanicals, you really can’t go wrong. But beyond that, there are other wats to spruce of the G in your G&T. For one, you can add a flavored gin, like Indoggo’s Strawberry Gin or Greenall’s Blueberry Gin (pictured). If you like the fun colors but want to stick with the classic gin flavor, you can also try Empress Gin, a small batch gin that’s heavy on the which turns the gin a beautiful indigo hue. And if you have time, you can even infuse the gin yourself.

The Tonic

The tonic is also important and it does not have to be boring. I do recommend a high quality tonic, like Fever Tree or Q. But if you really want to spice things up, try a flavored tonic. I had a lemon flavored tonic recently that I loved. But you can find tonics flavored with elderflower, cucumber, and so much more.

The Garnish

Finally, if you really want to take this highball to another level, get creative with your garnish. There are so many ways to embellish a G&T. For one, you can add herbs. Think rosemary, mint, or sage. You can also drop a few peppercorns in your glass. And finally, you can add a slice of cucumber, a lime wheel, and other fruits and veggies to make it visually interesting.
